Why do you love what you do?
Choosing to become a realtor was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made, and it has been incredibly rewarding every step of the way. Knowing that clients trust me to guide them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. There’s nothing better than sharing the joy of an accepted offer or a successful listing. But for me, it’s more than just closing deals—it’s about getting to know my clients on a personal level, understanding their unique needs and personalities, and helping them find a home that truly feels like theirs. Being a part of that journey is incredibly rewarding. I truly love being a realtor because it gives me the opportunity to form genuine, meaningful connections with people, and I’m proud to say that many of my clients have turned into lifelong friends.
What hobbies do you have and what do you do for fun?
In my free time, I’m a busy mom to three active boys, ages 9, 10, and 12, and I absolutely love watching them participate in their many activities and sports, including football, baseball, volleyball, and basketball, as well as act in local theater productions. I’m lucky enough to coach many of their teams, which is a huge joy for me—sports is one of my big passions! My family is also deeply involved in 4-H, and we proudly exhibit at the Rock County 4-H Fair. We spend a lot of time on my family’s farm, caring for show pigs, and whenever I have free time, you’ll find me out at the farm with my family—that’s truly where I’m happiest! We’re also active members of St. William Catholic parish, where we stay involved in our church community.
What do you like most about living in Wisconsin?
I love living in Wisconsin because it’s where my roots run deep. Growing up on a family farm on the west side of Janesville, I’ve always been proud to be a part of Wisconsin’s rich agricultural industry and history. I still spend as much time as I can helping out on my family’s crop and beef farm. The changing seasons are one of my favorite things about living here, especially fall. There’s nothing quite like the harvest season—the smell of the fields, the hum of the equipment, the beautifully changing leaves, and the crisp autumn air. It’s truly my happy place!
What makes you proud to be a real estate agent?
I take great pride in being a real estate agent because I truly value the trust my clients place in me during such an important decision in their lives. My goal is to alleviate their stress and make the process enjoyable and seamless. With connections to various stakeholders—lenders, inspectors, buyers, sellers, and title companies—I can ensure everything runs smoothly for my clients. I want them to feel confident that they made the right choice in hiring me. Referrals are the highest compliment, and I’m proud that many of my clients have recommended me to their friends and loved ones.
Give an example of how you helped save a deal as a buyer’s agent that might normally have fallen through.
I recently worked with a first-time homebuyer who received an accepted offer on a property that he had a strong sentimental attachment to and one that he really loved. He was incredibly disappointed when the inspection report revealed numerous defects in the home that he was not expecting, leading him to consider walking away from the deal. We already knew the sellers were unlikely to make any repairs, and my buyer didn’t have the extra funds to cover the costs out of pocket. To save the deal, I got creative and collaborated with his lender and the listing agent to craft a specific seller credit amendment. This solution allowed my buyer to save on closing costs, putting cash back in his pocket for the necessary repairs. The seller was delighted that the deal would close and that the property would go to someone who loved the home as much as they did. My buyer was thrilled to learn about this option, and he ultimately got to keep the house he was so emotionally attached to. A win for all parties!
Give an example of a deal that a buyer was able to get out of because of how you drafted the offer.
Fortunately, most transactions in my career have gone relatively smoothly, and I haven’t often needed to navigate clients out of a deal. However, there was one particular transaction where my buyers raised concerns about numerous defects in the inspection report. The seller and listing agent were uncooperative and failed to respond in a timely manner. To address this challenge, the lender, my buyers, and I collaborated and utilized the financing contingency as a way for my buyers to exit the deal. While it’s never an enjoyable experience for anyone involved, I always strive to avoid such situations through open and clear communication with all parties throughout the process.
What previous transaction meant a lot to you and why?
Many people say that working with family on a real estate transaction can lead to friction and potentially strain relationships, but I’ve been fortunate to experience the opposite. I had the privilege of assisting my dear in-laws in purchasing a family vacation property on a quiet lake, which was truly a dream come true for them. I was committed to ensuring a seamless transaction, and despite facing challenges with a combative listing agent, we successfully closed the deal. Since then, we have been able to spend so much wonderful family time together at the lake, creating lasting memories that we will cherish for years to come. I am so grateful to have played a small part in making their dream a reality.
What are some mistakes to avoid as a home buyer?
Many homebuyers often make the mistake of working with lenders they have never met before. I highly recommend going local for your lending needs, as it can significantly impact the transaction process. Many agents, including myself, have a strong network of lenders we’ve worked extensively with, so don’t hesitate to shop around and find the one that fits your needs best. Another common mistake is not fully trusting your agent. There’s a reason you hired us—we bring expertise and guidance to the table. Experienced agents can help you craft an offer that truly stands out in a competitive market, increasing your chances of securing your dream home. Lean on us throughout the process; we’re here to help you navigate the complexities of buying a home and ensure you make informed decisions.
